Trichy Passport office has created a record by bringing down the number of days in new passport processing to 30 days from 90 days. This was targeted to be achieved by end of October but was realised two months in advance.
The Passport Office has issued 1,75,782 passports between January 1 and August 22 this year against 1,86,153 applications received.
As of now, passports had been issued in respect of all eligible applications, which were received till July 24, 2007.
A Passport Adalat would be held at the office on August 27 and 28 for applicants who had submitted their applications prior to March 1, 2007 but have not received the passports either due to objections or non-receipt of police verification reports.
General enquiry will be closed during the two days.
My dad applied for renewal of his passport in Trichy office two months ago and told me that the staff were friendly and very informative. Although the office is crowded, the crowd management was good so that he did not have to wait long after his appointment time to get the application processed.
Kudos to the staff of the passport office in Trichy.
