With Trichy Airport raising to the standard of International Airport with its facilities and connections, plans for creating a ring road around Trichy that connectes Navalpattu and the passenger traffic between Trichy and Bangalore are being recogonized as a true indicator of potential IT resource availability in Trichy. According to the ELCOT director Mr. Uma Shankar, for the establishment of one million square feet built up space in the sprawling 135 acre site at Navalpattu, the ELCOT is in the process of readying architectural design. The plan is to have smaller companies operate from the built up space and allow the bigger players to create their own campusses.
The one striking feature to this article in Hindu is, it does not give us any new or specific information about the park. All the information present in the article is what we know already. Would have been great if it could have provided some information on which companies have agreed to setup offices and what is their proposed timetable. I don’t see that anywhere in the article.
Also the ringroad plans are being developed now and no one knows how many layers of approval ( both financial and political) that it has to go through before it gets approved. There is no timetable information here yet.
Wikimapia is a user driven site that is trying to emulate wikipedia’s success in information. It is a peer driven site where anyone can submit information about any location in the world and it will peer reviewed and approved before becoming official. I wish the peer review process is transparent so atleast we will know what are the resources that were used for reviewing. Without this, I don’t put my money on the validity of the review.
I wish the Hindu article had given some specifics about the development instead of putting together all the facts known before.
Hopefully we will get some great information on our IT park’s progress very soon.

TIDITTSIA organisation request to announce TRICHY as the 2nd capital city of Tamil Nadu state, after Chennai, during their annual general meetings, held here recently.
Well, wonder whether the present Tamil Nadu government, would support such motives, by this ambitious TIDITTSIA organisation.

Business process services and software engineering outsourcing company e4e, which has two centres in India, plans to open a third centre with a 500-seat capacity during the next fiscal (2007-08) in a secondary city.
e4e, which operates in the technical, financial and healthcare domains, has centres in Bangalore, Chennai, US and Scotland. Bulk of the work takes place in Indian centres where close to 3,200 of the company?s staff strength of 4,000 are employed.
?We are intent on expanding our operations in India since the firm is based on a scaleable model. The third centre will be finalised in the third quarter of the next fiscal. We are keen on setting it up close to colleges. We are considering Pondicherry, Trichy and Coimbatore as the possible locations,? e4e Inc COO Murrali Rangarajan told Business Standard.
To begin with, the third centre (of 500), will focus on data analytics and diagnostics. The seating capacity will be scaled up to 1,500 subsequently. “The availability of talent is immense in this part of India and we intend to build on it. Besides, we are growing between 32 per cent and 40 per cent year-on-year fuelling expansion,? he pointed out.
In Bangalore, the company is consolidating its operations by moving into a single campus.
At present, the company operates out of six locations in Bangalore. ?The Bangalore centre’s staff work on all domains. We want to operate from a single campus as it will be advantageous to us from the logistical point of view,? he said.
e4e services clients mainly in the US, which accounts for 95 per cent of the firm’s market. In 2006, it acquired Omni Pros, a business solutions service provider based in Silicon Valley, California for the technology and financial services markets.
According to IDC estimates, the US offshore IT services market is set to double to an estimated $14.7 billion by 2009. ?US markets will continue to drive our growth though the English-speaking areas in APAC are slowly picking up pace,? Rangarajan stated.
He said that the company would continue to focus on organic growth. ?However, we are also looking at acquisition of suitable companies if they come our way,? he added.

The above private IT park got NOC in March 2006, have they started any construction yet ?. The model of the building looks ugly. Its only a small IT park(1.5 lakh sq.ft), but any way good effort, lets hope they start construction soon.
December 12, 2007 at 3:18 PM
Folks,
My friend lives in trichy and he has tried to buy few plots in and around KK Nagar. Promoters insisted my friend to pay an advance even before showing titles.. Hence he got a doubt on the genuiness of the seller and agreed to pay a small token amount.
He did apply for a land loan and tried to verify the credentials using his own lawyer.
Bank managers of some important private banks/nationalised banks gave a shocking statistics that almost 48 out of the 50 real estate promoters have muscle backup, are fake and trying to sell
-illegal properties that which can anytime be acquired by govt.,
-properties that have lots of problems related to minor (person who buys would have to give up incase minor on becoming on completion of 18 years claims the property)
-properties belonging to some third party living a little away.. (NRI folks, some of them could be yours too, unless you have some one to take care of)
-proper road side lands (called puram pokku nilam in tamil) meant for future infrastructure/road developments
Bank managers insisted that it would be advisable to ignore buying plots near navalpattu, KK nagar.
Pls try to be more careful in checking all the docs even before you would pay a single penny.
December 12, 2007 at 3:54 PM
Make sure that the promoter who is trying to sell is 100% genuine and is not trying to forge the documents.
Be very alert when you plan to buy plots in any of the following areas
1. kottapattu village (almost 80% of the realtors sell 100% illegal, problematic lands)….would show you some retail chains to trap you..
2. navalpattu village (Itz still a proper abode of snakes and forest which is very dense..would take atleast a decade to come to some shape.
3. gundur village
Always get it verified by own lawyers and act on their opinions (these fakes try to excite you saying that the entire heaven would be in trichy very soon and some of the angels would be at your disposal soon to rip you off your hard-earned money..
Even if you have lots of money, apply for a loan with IDBI, SBI, ICICI. Their legal teams are so strong and are aware of the gimmicks happening around these places,
Thanks a lot to ramkumar for providing space to share thoughts with each other.
December 13, 2007 at 3:57 AM
Its a good effort to keep people away from fakes . As joseph mentioned , going for a loan would always ensure that the land is legal and free from liabilities.
Unfortunately , i dont find reputed builders going for big land and constructing houses as in other places.Parsn was one such good , honest but old fashioned builder. Such socities offer good life , safety and at the same time more privacy than flats. They are safe to invest also
December 13, 2007 at 4:19 AM
Taste differs. I felt the IT park by MANGALAM ESTATES though small is a nice building design compared to existing designs in trichy and to me its miles from ugly if not too close to beauty
December 13, 2007 at 7:12 PM
I will NOT agree with joseph. Bcoz i have done 4 to 5 deals in the mentioned areas by joseph. Seller is genuine and i have done the deals after getting legal opinion. I think these guys are creating false scene saying that this area is NOT good.
Those who want to invest go there and get the real picture
December 22, 2007 at 1:24 PM
Points that Joseph had raised is very true and i would definitely go with his views.
He has only asked us folks (promoters) to be very cautious with these goons and had suggested for getting legal opinions by applying for a bank loan. This does not any way raise false alarms and an effort to show the reality of Kottapattu & Navalpattu
I myself had faced problems with these real estate goons who used to threaten with bad words when their papers were proved to be a fake..
These goondas (now called as promoters)try to sell all illegal lands in kottapattu by showing you a retail chain and a school…
Further Balu should be one of those luckiest to have had good deals with one of those very few genuine promoters.
The above areas are well known for lots of refugees/illegal immigrants and most of them don’t have any other means except for faking those ppl who invest their money in lands.
Navalpattu is a pakka snake forest and the ground water has lots of lime content…obviously ppl like balu only would prefer to invest in these areas.,,
December 22, 2007 at 1:37 PM
That’s correct Christopher.
I hope Mr. balu is not another promoter himself to say that these forests are well developed.
We would be a branded educated fools if we’d invest in these areas and these guys try to woo NRIs by talking all rubbish developments.
Mr. Balu, we would suggest you better go and check your docs with a good lawyer twice (incase if you were really a genuine buyer)…
December 24, 2007 at 7:08 AM
have you guys heard of Hygrevar? Are they genuine builders? Please send in your experiences, if any.
December 24, 2007 at 9:02 AM
Hi Pasha,
Gygrevar is developing one apartment near to Maharani theatre complex. It seems good.
If u have time go and see the apartment.
But, they are not allowing to see the construction
December 24, 2007 at 12:36 PM
Please guys dont post real estate related stuffs here. There are many blogs or forums for real estate, please concentrate on IT park stuff here.
January 3, 2008 at 7:56 AM
trichy is ver good city. In trichy all facilitys are available. Here no water problem and transport.so please concentrate to open IT park.
January 3, 2008 at 12:00 PM
The IT-Park proposal in Trichy has been scrapped for good-a source close to the bloody politicians at the highest level has confirmed it to me!Unless a miracle happens, there is going to be no further progress on it.
If you guys continue to believe on false promises of indian politicians like illiterates there just wont be any avenues for growth-It should have implied already as there has been no progress what-so-ever for more than a year since the earlier announcement.
Don’t fool yourself anymore listening to many Morons in here who speculate endlessly!

Feel very sad if Ashok’s statement is True… But still have the hope Lets wait and see
January 4, 2008 at 8:36 AM
I think the year 2008 will be year of more achievements in every sector, IT sector in particular. I also wish not to post any unauthorised negative comments in this blog. Today the Advt. in THEHINDU gives more trust about the steps taken up by the Government to develop the whole of Tamilnadu in IT sector…

This Fellow Ashok pokes his stinking nose in every topic in this thread to simply create unhappiness or blame someone or the other. No contribution has ever been good or postive.
As expressed above we request you Not to disturb this thread. Please post only authentic information or news which have good element of truth and not your day dreams.

January 25, 2008 at 1:23 PM
I donot know why IT park progress in Tiruchi has been very slow. This leads to lot of speculation which is not good.
I donot see any reason why tiruchi is being overshadowed by Madurai inspite of having some geographical advantage.
January 25, 2008 at 2:04 PM
I agree with you.But nothing is above politics.Trichy is startegically locatted, has good colleges and infrastructure and also has number of small and medium software companies.
Everything is OK, but we lack the most important political power and without that nothing happens.ELCOT MD Mr.Uma shankar who is from Tirunelveli is busy promoting Madurai and Tirunelveli IT parks and put Tiruchi on the back burner.Trichy lacks that influence.
January 26, 2008 at 9:05 AM
It’s absolutely significant, apart fom IT companies, Trichy is very well positioned geographically, with all major infrastructural activities currently in progress, would definetely is of any businessman dream, in attracting various industrial, tourism, entertainment etc activities.
Hence, would only fear of bad politicizing by the politicians themselves, which may distract businesses out of Trichy.
January 26, 2008 at 11:18 AM
How long will we be saying central location, i dont think that gives any advantage for Trichy except in terms of administration. If you look at TN, Chennai and Coimbatore, two industrialised cities are in different corners of the state.
Yes with respect to infrastructure in terms of 4 lane roads, we will have an advantage, but the same is going on in other cities too, except Coimbatore.
I would blame politicians from the Trichy region, we have elected a bunch of good for nothing people.
January 28, 2008 at 3:52 AM
Trichy located at central TN is not going to add any value for the IT park. This central location is used only for arranging political meetings. TN govt will develop trichy only after it starts madurai IT park. As ELCOT MD is from tirunelveli, they will develop tirunelveli IT park before trichy. And salem has better political support, so they may also get IT park before trichy. Now it is all in the hands of politicians.
Though we have a union minister for communication from next constituency, trichy is not getting any benefit from them.
January 28, 2008 at 4:51 AM
Hey stop blaming the politicians!!!!!!!!!!!!! Blame the Trichy people itself, for being ignorant and having a country brute mentality!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
January 29, 2008 at 3:38 AM
Yes we should blame trichy people for electing such useless polticians who do nothing for the city and being so calm at no actions being taken.
January 29, 2008 at 9:08 AM
Union minister Mr. Raja is acting like a puppet and could soon be replaced by MK’s daughter Kanimozhi. He has failed to take any bold decision at the center nor to bring any projects for Trichy or TN.
Maran was lot better as he brought lots of projects to Chennai and was interested in developing IT in Coimbatore. I was having great hopes when Mr. Raja took power but only dissapointment is left now.
January 30, 2008 at 5:48 PM
I know Mr Raja is Dummy. But he is reponsible for MRF,SEZ coming to this region. Also he is the reason for the revival of the Jayankondam Lignite project and the super specialty hospital if it was not stolen from Trichy. Most importantly, Mr Raja is responsible for the development of Trichy airport.I hope MR.Raja bring more projects to the region.
Finally, I dont know why you like Maran when he was developing chennai, coimbatore and not Trichy?
January 30, 2008 at 6:18 PM
Dude, i didnt say i liked Mr. Maran, but just said he was better than Mr. Raja as he brought many IT companies to Chennai and was atleast involved in developing IT in Coimbatore. I said that to show how Mr. Raja has not done anything for TN as a whole.
January 31, 2008 at 6:46 AM
If our MPs can bring some power related industries to trichy, then it will be good. Reliance may manufacture power equipments, govt wants MNCs to invest in power sector. Even if IT industry is not coming to trichy upto the expectation, they need to take some effort to bring industries for which trichy has good facilities.
March 3, 2008 at 10:37 AM
Hello,
I got to this website when googling for information regarding proposed IT Park in Trichy. Could see some interesting posts by some people here. why couldnt i see posts in Feb month 2008?
I was approached by my family friend who lives in Trichy to buy some land near proposed IT park. I visited Trichy, took a cab and went around few places. Notable ones are near the Rajarajeshwari temple (forgot the real name), Police colony, Places near OFT HAAP and HVF. I could see lots and lots of promoters who have laid colored stones to indicate the plots and many boards with contact numbers. Many have cleared the thorn bushes and lots of machinery is used.
I was thinking it was better if one wish to buy a plot near OFT/HAPP area rather than near the IT Park area. It seems the distance between OFT and IT Park area should be between 5 to 8 kms (correct me if i am wrong).
What do you guys think?
– Kumar.K.
March 3, 2008 at 10:43 AM
Reason to choose the OFT area is to be safe even if IT Park project is called off. I was able to some new houses built in that area which are owned by OFT employees. So, even if IT park is dropped, the plots will still have some value since the proximity of OFT.
On another note, why couldnt the buyer notedown the plot number he wishes to buy and do an EC check in the Registration office? I think that area would be covered under Thiruverumbur Regn. office.

IT park at Navalpattur notified as SEZ
The Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry has notified 49.89 hectares of land at Navalpattu for setting up an IT and IT-enabled service centre under Special Economic Zone (SEZ). This was part of the decision by the ministry to set up S EZs in tier-11 cities, official sources said here on Tuesday.
The Development Commissioner, Union Commerce Ministry, Mr B Vijayan had already visited the land recently, the sources said. ELCOT, which is setting up the centre, had sought an additional 120 acres of additional land in the vicinity for infrastructure d evelopment. A 500 acre IT-SEZ would also be coming up at Gagaikondan near Tirunelveli, the sources said.

March 7, 2008 at 10:37 AM
IT park at Navalpattu already published in Government of india, gazette as a SEZ for IT/ITES.
Also Govt. of india intimate to Elcot, the authorised operation to be carried out on approval at navalpattu.
From this orders, it is crystal clear IT park at navalpattu will commence soon.

Hi,
What is the speed of the fastest broadband available in Trichy and who provides it?
Please let me ….
Thank you
Sam
March 9, 2008 at 5:35 AM
For home use or for office use ? If for home use BSNL broadband is very good. There are many and recently hathway has also started giving service in trichy.
March 10, 2008 at 10:37 AM
Thanks for the reply Spillai…
I’m looking for Home use.
But I prefer a better bandwith…
Is there anyone providing around 1Mbps and unlimited download limit?
March 16, 2008 at 11:35 PM
Dr Chandramouli reckons that once SEZs in the southern districts get populated by IT companies, it would not be too difficult to sell those in other regions. Tiruchi and Salem are next on the list.
http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/2008/03/17/stories/2008031751681500.htm
ELCOT reckons that once the 500-acre SEZ is sold out like the ones in Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai, the task of attracting clients would be much easier for the other Tier-II cities on the radar – Salem and Tiruchi.
http://www.hindu.com/2008/03/17/stories/2008031758821000.htm
Until yesterday i was hoping that after Madurai, ELCOT would be concentrating on Trichy. But after seeing those 2 news articles looks like Trichy has been pushed even further behind Tirunelveli on the priority list.
Will we ever get a TIDEL park in Trichy ?.
April 1, 2008 at 9:32 AM
Do not know what these MLA’s and MP’s of trichy and near by area’s doning they should do some good thing to trichy’s growth
April 1, 2008 at 12:41 PM
Rightly said TRICHY GUY…. The land allotted in Trichy will sell like a hot cake and already there is a heavy rush from lot of IT companies to get space in Trichy IT park.
But these f###ing politicians (centred in MDU) are playing games to push Madurai & Tirunelveli first…
Otherwise Trichy is the best among Tier-II cities for setting up IT parks
April 1, 2008 at 1:11 PM
Obviously………., Trichy IT Park is the best and the most wanted among the various IT companies, due to its central location&large amount of educated workforce here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 8, 2008 at 8:47 AM
Last week, I visited Navalpattu, I was not able to locate the place allocated for IT park. As of now, its just a waste land surrounded by some farming.
I met one guy from the Verappa nagar real estate, he said all the plots are sold in Verappa Nagar. They are planning another Rajappa nagar and the cost is 350 Rs/sq.ft (f**k). There is no trace of IT park, but they are saying rocket price.
I wonder, whether IT park will come in Navalpattu and if it comes how long it will take to complete, and if it is completed, how many companies will occupy ?
April 8, 2008 at 10:03 AM
Already the land price in trichy is sky rocketing.
Thillainagar, thennur, anna nagar, woraiyur, puthur, annamalai nagar, cantonment are selling at Rs.3000
Flat Rs.1500-2000 per sq. ft.
In srirangam, it is Rs.1500.
KK Nagar Rs.1200
Devadhanam it is Rs.400 now itself.
What is there in trichy to raise the prices to such a level? All stupidity. What the heck !! Jealousy and greedy people i say
With such a bunch of jokers called MPs,MLAs of trichy and jokers sitting inside corporation who always put deficit budget, road developments happening at a pace lower than that of snail’s, other developments are even at worser rate, what is the reason to raise the land price.
Every where narrow roads, reason encroachments. No single officer has guts to remove them.
Proposed water theme park is at anna nagar, what a comedy? who proposed such a idiotic move.
Have u ever seen a temple which is biggest in asia with unfriendly attitude with tourists? demanding money always. building houses in temple premises, welcome to srirangam. (Some one please make srirangam under UNESCO heritage site to save it).
Ellam ippadi irukka, vilai mattrum eri konde selgirathu !!!
April 8, 2008 at 11:03 AM
I fully agree with Nemo on Srirangam temple.
Bad attitiude of the priests and so called guides literally harassing and fooling people around.
Such a magnificient temple would have attracted tremendous tourism for its architecture , planning and largest gopuram in the world. But people hestitate because of such problems
April 14, 2008 at 8:18 AM
HI EVERYBODY,
TRICHY, WHICH HAS EXCELLENT FACILITIES LIKE TRANSPOTATION (RAILWAY, ROADWAYS, AIRWAYS), EDUCATION, WATERFACILITY, AND ECT..
but A PATHETIC THING IS, THERE IS NO IT PARK..IF IT’S THERE DEFNETLY TRICHY WILL ROCK..
April 14, 2008 at 8:43 AM
Trichy has already started rocking with Mr.Raja, who is now shifting incoming Trichy investments to Perambalur!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 14, 2008 at 11:36 AM
We can just feel disappointed with Mr. Raja and nothing more. After all he hails from Perambalur and doing his best to develop his home town.
April 14, 2008 at 5:31 PM
Dear All,
Matter of reaching 1 Hour is not a big deal at all.
Lets appriciate Raja, atleast he is bringing some hope for central region..Trichy-Perambalur…
even in future, if there is any Industries comes to trichy then it will be coming in outskirts of city…
So.. Don’t worry much…. It’s all good for Greater Trichy in near future…
April 14, 2008 at 6:05 PM
Perambalur SEZ is 75 kms north of Trichy. Its too far from Trichy to really have any impact on us. Also the city is not seeing much expansion on the northern side along the NH45 to really benifit out of this SEZ.
April 14, 2008 at 7:43 PM
For years, industiries have been on the peripheral of Trichy.Wether Thuvakudi on Thanjavur road or Mathur on Pudukottai road or Viralimalai on Madurai road or even cement,
paper, sugar factories on chennai/karur road, are 20-30 km from Trichy. The suburbs have grown on these roads only because of Trichy’s influence. Most of the people working in these industries live in Trichy and travel for work.
Siruganur and its area are already seeing expansion. Other than 3 engineering colleges,SRM hast started constructing its Medical college hospital and private industrial estate which will house 150-200 small and medium units is also coming up now.
April 15, 2008 at 6:52 AM
Is the private industrial estate really coming? Sometime back there was a plan to develop a industrial estate in Siruganur like that of thuvakudi. But havent heard anything on it.
SRM is building a hospital currently, which may get converted to a medical college hospital later depending on the approval from medical council.
It will be good if trichy gets industries like Suzlon or L&T or Bosch, for which trichy is an ideal destination.
April 15, 2008 at 11:07 AM
Perambalur SEZ is a multiproduct SEZ and will come up in 2,500 acres. Do you think the promoter of the SEZ will not develop a township near it to house the workers and their families. Even a mega city like Chennai can have an influence for only about 45 kms, like the development Sriperumbudur based on Chennai.
Im really surprised how Trichy can influence or get benifitted out of this project which will come up at more than 75 kms from the city.
April 15, 2008 at 3:10 PM
Still I beleive SEZ perambalur would have a slight impact on Trichy…as we are the only city near to them!
April 15, 2008 at 4:21 PM
Perambalur Township people has to come to trichy for the following reason..
1.To catch Flight to any other city
2.To catch Trian to any other city .. enen all has to come to trichy even for Chennai boarding train passenger..
3.Above all.. they have to come to trichy to reach any major city expect Chennai..
So…Do you think that all the people placed in SEZ will ready to stay in Perambalur…
Even today… not even 2% of Sriperumbur Industrial area working people are not staying in Sriperumbudur…
April 15, 2008 at 8:05 PM
Eve today .. Not even 2% of Sriperumbudur Industrial area professional are staying in Sriperumdur..In contrast majority of people are coming from Chennai city …
Need 2 Hrs to reach Sriperumbudur from Adaiyar and vice versa in peak morning and evening hours.. and nobody is willing to stay nearby area’s like Sriperumbur, Sembarambakam, Sunguvarchatram,Thakalai etc…
April 15, 2008 at 8:20 PM
Do you know that Dubai based ETA star property is developing a 1,200 acre township at a cost of 12,000 crore Rs at Sriperumbudur. And DLF is also developing a 400 acre township. They must have done some study before investing such huge money.
Due you think Perambalur SEZ promoter will not take into consideration the accomodation of the employees in the SEZ. Surely they will have plans for mega township. If they dont plan for that then the SEZ will no attract industries.
April 16, 2008 at 5:10 AM
We have karur which is also 75 kms from trichy. Karur is famous for textile exports which is accounting more than Rs 3000 crores. Did it has any influence on trichy, nothing. Maybe people will come to trichy to take bus or train to other places. Karur is developing on its own.
Tirupur ones a small town, now it has the potential to become the 3rd/4th largest city in TN soon.
Perambalur SEZ is good for perambalur, it will helps in developing it.
But our trichy is not getting any SEZ or any new industries.
April 16, 2008 at 8:31 AM
Tiruppur is a city based only on textile industry which is not good. With the rise in value of rupee, the exports from Tiruppur has fallen by 10% last financial year. Already 1 lakh people have lost job in the Tiruppur region and some immigrants to tiruppur have already left to their home towns.
The real threat to the 4th biggest city spot of Trichy could be from Salem i think.
April 16, 2008 at 9:00 AM
Another fate of Trichy is the problem in Srilanka…I still remember the trade happened between Trichy and Colombo in late 70’s was an advantage for Trichy…
Apart from Chennai the international flights(Sri Lankan) flown only in our city by those days…
If we consider the position where we were in late 70s and early 80s…we are now fallen deeply to other cities of TN.
April 16, 2008 at 11:53 AM
It is really sad to note trichy which has good facilities in education, industry, transport etc is not getting much attention like other TN cities. Political parties use trichy for their meetings, urvalaams other than that nothing much.
For Chennai the government is planning for elevated highway for nearly 18 kms 1700 crores rupees, but in trichy has any govt is solving the traffic problem around Gandhi market area. An elevated highway is such areas will surely reduce the traffic.
Shifting the central bus stand to any other place will not occur atleast for 5 or 10 more years. IT park is yet to commence, no good plan for industries.
April 17, 2008 at 10:27 AM
In yesterday Hindu newspaper there was a news that two MLA’s from Madurai had raised voice asking CM to lay foundation stone soon for Madurai IT park. Wondering what MLA’s from Trichy were doing at the same time in the assembly ?. Only Trichy and Madurai are the 2 tier II cities were foundation stone has not been laid yet.
April 17, 2008 at 2:31 PM
This movie link below shows something about IT parks in Tiruchi…
If someone has already posted this elsewhere on this thread…sorry I’m not spaming!
http://www.elcot.in/elcot_images/trichy.swf
April 17, 2008 at 2:44 PM
Last time when Madurai MLA’s raised about IT park,CM had said foundation will be laid in couple of weeks. He has given same answer this time too.Which clearly shows no point in asking questions and govt will act in its own way.
April 17, 2008 at 2:56 PM
So you support the Trichy MLA’s who goto the assembly and sleep ?.
April 17, 2008 at 3:13 PM
My point is our minister Nehru can take things directly with CM or other ministers. That doesnt mean things will happen automatically.
I really dont understand why all your posts compares Trichy with Madurai.Infact all your posts highlights more about Madurai rather than Trichy.
April 17, 2008 at 3:31 PM
Rightly said Mr. Kumar..
April 17, 2008 at 4:09 PM
Please dont compare or fight with other cities
….
This is a big problem with we Tamils…
I respect other cities growth and I love to see my city(Tiruchi)to grow faster…
Why dont our MPs and MLAs spend sometime daily to answer the people using a website or Forums?
This is the easiest way to interact with people.
Atleast on the next election we must ask the MPs and MLAs whether they can spend some hours daily or weekly to answer the people’s question using this Internet Media!
Well we dont even bother to visit us often…which they are supposed to do.
That way we can bring people from all walks of life to question our own MPs and MLAs…
Will all these happen atleast after 2011 elections?
April 19, 2008 at 8:41 AM
I am have been following up this thread for some time .I have bought a few plots around
Navalpattu area near Annanagar, police colony and I left the country. Is there any IT park coming in trichy? If so when are they planning to start ? since if they are not planning to construct by 2008 end then I need to liquidate it.Please advise.
April 19, 2008 at 7:26 PM
In my opinion trichy is not a good place for any sort of investment.
It is no different from getting a land in chennai. The opportunities and development in chennai cannot be compared with trichy but almost the real estate prices are not that different from chennai.
The so called hottest places in chennai(IT Corridor OMR) offers Rs 3000 to 4500 per square feet but in trichy the square feet rate in thillainagar is approx 5000, Ramalingam nagar approx 3000, AnamaliNagar approx 4000 etc.,
Atleast in chennai I can understand that the lot of things are happenings but after analyzing the prices in trichy I dropped the idea of getting a land in Trichy.
In my opinion trichy is 50 years behind in terms of infrastructure, development and business opportunity when compared to chennai but what I can’t understand why the real estate prices are so high.
Thanks for BHEL for keeping my birth place alive.
April 20, 2008 at 3:18 AM
Wow!!! I love to buy a house in chennai for Rs 3000 per sq. feet.
In a place like K.K.Nagar, Saligramam and vadapalani, the sq. feet rare is around Rs 8000. A 2 BHK apartment for rent at these places is around Rs 15,000 – Rs 20,000 per month and if you want to buy it would cost Rs 80 to 90 lacs. Even in place like Koovur on the chennai city suburbs( on Poonthamalli high road)they are charging more than Rs 3000 sq. feet.
If you take K.K.Nagar in Trichy, the price is Rs 1200 per sq.feet.The price is Trichy is very much economical. I have a house in Chennai and my father(our house) has one in Trichy.
Commerical area like T.Nagar, Mount Road in Chennai, it would cost you around Rs 10,000 -Rs 12,000 Per sq.feet ( in fact its more than that). While Thillai Nagar in Trichy is just Rs 3000-Rs 4000.Even here Trichy is much more cheaper than Chennai and infact cheaper than other Tier II cities.
What ever infrastructure Chennai has, even now if it rains for an hour, the streets get flooded.
Trichy is a developing place and infrastrucutre is improving and better than other Tier II cities.
People puke something withoung know the fact.
April 20, 2008 at 8:48 AM
Trichy Guy, can’t you think of a different ID. Your ID is very similar to mine, except for the capital G for guy. I hope people dont confuse your comments as mine.
April 21, 2008 at 6:10 AM
I agree with Karuna(Trichy Guy). I had already asked about the same (ref post #58). Simply it is the gimmick of real estate guys to boost. And to tell you, this is not happening only with trichy. each and every place in tamilnadu is facing this problem.
Ofcourse, i find many good souls caring for trichy are here and discussing about its developments.
Dear friends,
Before buying the land in any city, think whether the price quoted is worth. If not buy it some 2-4 kms outskirts (if you are particular about a city else buy it elsewhere). Argue with the real estate guys, dont simply buy it and raise the price. Be patient, as trichy guy said, another recession like thing is about to happen and price will surely fall down.
Also please dont discuss about real estate things (advertisements) here or anywhere. There are seperate websites for that. go and give ur advt there.
Thank you.
———————————————————————-
Trichy needs a movement for its development !!!
April 21, 2008 at 6:59 AM
I am not insane to compare Trichy and Chennai.I gave the real estate figures in Trichy and Chennai for comparison. For Rs 3000-4000 you can get a decent house in the heart of Trichy City while you have to go to downtown in Chennai for that Price.
It took 7 years to complete the palakkari bridge while it took 2-3 years to complete the other 3 bridges(Srirangam,Ramakrishna,
Uthamarkoil). The perambur ROB in Chennai has been pending for more than 10 years now.Does that mean Chennai is not developing fast?
Though BHEL is a major player, companies like CVL,Anand Engg,GB Engg, Vessons now contribute more to the Trichy Economy.
Cethar vessels alone does over Rs 2000 cr business.
Anand Engg and other dozen companies do over Rs 1000 crs business in winmill tower manufacturing.
The 300 plus ancillary/fabrication industries which does over Rs 400 cr is becoming more independent from BHEL and are getting more orders from CVL,Thermax etc.
The Cement industries is important constituent of Trichy economy. Also other industires like Chemical, paper, sugar, auto parts, foundries, tanners and artificial diamond manufacturing also contribute.Even the 100 plus rice mills have become part of Trichy economy. Many Rice mills now export to other countires apart from the open market in other states.
Chennai is also prone to floods. The city was flooded couple of years before(same time when Trichy was flooded)including Saligaram, KK nagar etc.
If politicians who mostly have interest in Chennai show some level of support to Tier II cities, the we could see more and fast development.
April 21, 2008 at 9:41 AM
I dont think Trichy’s turnover is less than Karur. Apart from BHEL, there are industries like CVL, some wind mill companies which are doing business of more than Rs 1000 crores. There are more than 300 industries in thuvakudi which are doing good business, apart from BHEL they are executing orders from other industries.
As Kumar had said, Trichy has cement factories, rice mills, artificial diamond industries, food processing (example Lion dates), chemical industries, distilleries, steel industries, auto parts industries, few textile and garment industries, sugar, BPOs, OFT, HAPP, Railways (exporting engines to african countries) etc.
Still I say Trichy dont get much attention from political parties as compared to other Tier II cities. The IT park is an best example. If politicans can do atleast something, then Trichy has a good future.
April 21, 2008 at 7:34 PM
I would like to thank you guys for the efforts which you have put in to respond for my previous comment which I have posted in this forum.
It may be positive or negative I welcome both the comments. I know that all our intentions are same but each person will have their own style to express it.
I totally accept your views that if the city drews the attention of political parties then it can grow rapidly.
Also I strongly believe that the fate of Trichy would be decided by the local people, which means that they have the power to elect the right person.
April 22, 2008 at 4:44 AM
Dravidian parties have created a base of voters in each area in TN and what so ever people will vote to these parties. And people really voting are less or un educated. So it will be difficult to change the attitude of people. Identifying a right person who is really interested to develop trichy is very difficult.
The present Lokshbha MP during the election campaign told – vote for TOP (party symbol) to make trichy constituency to top level. Doesnt know what such people have done for the constituency.
This comment is not against any specific party or person.
It will take time for trichy to develop, even though it has so much of facilities.
April 22, 2008 at 5:56 AM
Yeah, when is the TIME coming for TRICHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everybody TALK&TALK&TALK&TALK&TALK but………………….. NO ACTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 22, 2008 at 6:44 AM
The government is planning to develop south TN. Again south TN doesnt include trichy. It is considered from Madurai till Kanyakumari. There are plans to develop industrial corridor on Chennai-Blore, CBE-Salem, Madurai-Tuticorin road sector. We dont find place here also. So the central region – trichy, karur, pudukottai, delta districts are not given importance for industrial developments.
If the politicians have atleast some interest like us (in this forum), we can expect better trichy.
April 23, 2008 at 7:05 AM
Friends,
Why not we create a movement ! to develop our city
April 23, 2008 at 1:13 PM
Good suggestion Nemo , but how ? Guys share some ideas …..
April 24, 2008 at 8:01 AM
Arvind,
Thanks a lot buddy for responding to such a idea.
Hi All,
First look should go to the environment, infrastructure: These are basic needs and back bone of each and every city.
We need to build good environment, infra around the city. This cannot be possible without people, corporation’s support. We need to create awareness among them. Infrastructure also comes only after cleanliness. Infrastructure here i meant roads and other things.Environment means building trees, parks around trichy.
Those who are developing the areas viz builders should also be pulled in in this awareness program. This awareness creating program should be in a different dimension to attract everybody in the city. Normal route of holding disucssions, meetings, issuing notices to public wont work. Something extra ordinary should come out. Then only we can involve all the parties.
How these can be achived? Suggestions please.
Up to this point, i know only one thing. This is going to involve lot of time and money. I dont know how we are going to make up these two factors. I am presently settled outside trichy but willign to contribute but how to gather people who are willing to spend and willig to participate. Those who are willing to participate must be someone who presently stays in trichy. For Those who with mentality of doing real estate, sorry, this is not the place for them. So how to identify the people? Tough task ahead.
Guys please share some ideas. If we keep on discussing on such front, by god’s grace we can evolve a nice organisation which will bring the movement which we need to develop trichy. Instead of talking about only trichy developments, feeling sad of current state of trichy politicians, comparing other cities with trichy and getting in to unneccesary arguments, why can we go ahead with this kind of discussions.
Guys this cannot be done by an individual. it nees everybody’s pariticipation. Please respond if interested.
Thank you.
April 24, 2008 at 6:49 PM
I totally support this movement. Like most of the guys even I am not in trichy. As Nemo said the guys who are going to drive this should be placed in trichy.
If everything shapes out properly, I am ready to give monetary support.
April 24, 2008 at 6:53 PM
I understand couple of bloggers here have contact with Trichy MP N.Shiva.They have also said he is approachable. To start with they could approach the MP and get his feeling on various developments including the airport expansion and IT park.I definitely think he would know the actual status on these developments. We could move forward from there.
April 25, 2008 at 4:22 AM
Guys,
I have one idea…
To develop IT park in Trichy we need mass strength. This can be achieved only by
College students. We can inform to all the colleges in and around the Trichy and we can request all them to participate and give petition to the Collector and all political members.
The IT park will be defenitely for freshers and if they participate massively it will good starting point…..
I hope everybody will agree this initiative..
April 25, 2008 at 5:18 AM
hi guys
lets form a group first with those who are really interested in trichy development and all should be given membership and the aim must be only and purely trichy development once a group is formed we should try to gather the members and the group must be developed to a force.
once a sufficient mass is collected, then all our need and requirements will be submitted to the authority like collector or mla or mp whoever concerned on behalf of our group.
No need that all member must be in trichy.
I hope this will work out.your suggestions pls…
April 25, 2008 at 10:48 AM
Now a days internet is very popular and most politicians have email id. If someone can get the email Id of trichy MP N.Shiva we can send some of our suggestions to him or to his office. Someone who lives in trichy can meet our MP and tell our suggestions.
We can demand for infrastructure development within trichy, IT park and industrial SEZ (heavy engineering and fabrication industries).
April 26, 2008 at 11:43 PM
Foundation stone has been laid in all tier II IT parks in state except Trichy. When will it happen in Trichy ?, will it ever happen ?. Im really getting frustrated.
April 27, 2008 at 8:54 AM
Guys ,the best way to approach is to talk to the student chairman of colleges
April 27, 2008 at 12:21 PM
Friends , i have created a community in orkut namely Trichy IT park. Who are all wants to see the developed (IT) trichy can join and post you voice.Hope it will be an start for a revolution.
April 28, 2008 at 5:32 AM
Thanks to Karuna(Trichy Guy), A.KUMAR, Ganapathy, Mohan, Amar, Trichy guy, Satheesh, skdivyaa.
Jeeva, Thanks for your prayer. Trichy didnt loose any shine.
Friends, contacting MP siva in person would be of great help in gathering the information of current situation. Also this can be done only by who are closer to him. If any one is having direct contact and closer to him. Well first you can ask about current political scenario of trichy being ignored.
Real development can come only if all political parties support the movement. Not only politicans, every body in trichy and those wililng to trichy being developed should contribute to this.
Satheesh point is good. The development should be not only in the front of IT park, it should be as well as in the front of Agriculture. Trichy is the only place which has right mix of agri land and barren land. While North Trichy is to agri, south trichy to industries.
First of all we should build trust towards ourselves for starting this movement. As skdivyaa said, orkut is one good medium. But in the trichy group (two of them are already there) useless arguments are going on. Also i find anti social elements are also there. I dont know how to go about it. May be a community with more security will help. i dont know. Also accessing orkut is difficult here but i will if u all support.
Trichy guy, you are good observer and good critic. We need your contribution also.
Dear tiruchians and ethnic trichians,
Contribution here means, “thannal aana udavigal” – either idea wise, money wise, action wise.
To start developing a art, let us scribble something first !
What about the blog owners, Ramkumar and Nanz, Are they looking here?
April 28, 2008 at 5:36 AM
And i said before, Trichy development means,
not only trichy, it should go to the trichy areas of Tanjavur, Kumbakonam, Pudukkottai, Perambalur. And to karur if they are interested.
Involve more and more people of your knowledge who wish to contribute (ofcourse with no real estate intentions) from these areas. Let us discuss the things first. So identify the medium.
One is orkut as said by skdivyaa.
Already as some one here pointed out to me is skyscraperscity.
Any other things?
Let us streamline and decide these things first, then we shall discuss about going out to help.
April 28, 2008 at 6:30 AM
This is not the right place to discuss..
Come and join in Skyscrapercity and give your valuable contribution via Suggestion/ Posting/ feed back etc…
Trichy is the only area not having active participation.. See Maduarai./ Tiruvandrum/ Cochin thread… atleast they are giving valuable suggestions and getting feed back immediately…
Here we have some limitation to post a picture and private discussion etc. etc…
April 28, 2008 at 6:33 AM
There are only handful of trichain is actively participating those threads , naming Kumar, kg4129 and Maran..
Also lot of madurai, CBE & Salam frieds like Madurai killy/ Madurai/ Trichy guy allies…/Anand/Vijayan/ etc..
Come forward and give your valuable contribution over there…
April 28, 2008 at 3:44 PM
Jeeva, Trichy neither lost its charm nor will lose it.I know its frustrating to see foundation laid for IT parks in other cities. To me it doesnt make any sense as there is no real development after the foundation was laid in Tirunelvei or Salem 10 months back.Even the works in Coimbatore started one year after the foundation was laid.
Here is an email from the Business development Manager of Trichy IT park. He has clearly said that ELCOT have received many applications for land allotment in Trichy IT park, but yet to be allotted to the IT companies. So,lets not worry too much about Trichy IT park.
Dear Sir,
Thanks for your keen interest on IT Park at Tiruchy.
Govt. so far allotted land 10 acres each to Sutherland Global services and Cognizant Solutions. Allotment of land M/s. HCL is in the process.
We have also received number of applications for allotment of land and same is under scrutiny. We will be consolidating their request after issuing an advertisement on land allotment. The Govt. and MD-ELCOT keen in developing required infrastructure for setting up above IT PARK at the earliest.

Got stuck up with the work.
Niranjan,
Thanks and thats a great idea. Also i see people discussing about developments in trichy, thats a good source of info. Is it ok to discuss there about future developments which we wanted to start ?
I signed in there as Nebo. will contribute there soon.
Mr. A.Kumar, Hope you are also having interest in this.
First, is people interested in driving this movement (discussions first, actions etc)
We need everybody to sign in skyscrapercity, then only we can discuss.
So far good replies came from
Karuna(Trichy Guy), A.KUMAR, Ganapathy, Mohan, Amar, Trichy guy, Satheesh, skdivyaa
Also Trichy guy can you please let us are you interested (discussing the things to bring the things in shape).
Same applies to all others. I have specified Trichy guy and A KUMAR because those are having maximum participation here.
Thank you.
May 4, 2008 at 9:11 AM
Holly molly! Not long ago Jeeva and most of posts here went bonkers on me for pointing out that politicians, poor decision-making and lack of vision will prevent any project to take-off!
Seek greener pastures – mmhh, interesting thought that! I did and hopefully many more of you would do it as well!!
Whether you guys believe me or not ther WONT be any IT park in Trichy.
Just as an after thought, stop addressing Ind ploliticians as “Honourables”….the 80+ Moron and his entourage or the rest of the crew dont deserve it!
This will be my last post here – dont see any point in it anymore!
As a sign-ff note – I appreciate the efforts of these individuals trying to bring in a change – Good luck and cheers guys!
May 5, 2008 at 3:19 AM

Hi anantha, what kind of work are you looking for in trichy
July 4, 2008 at 8:01 AM
As far as I know, allotment of space for the IT companies in Tricy has been delayed purposely. The reason Trichy is lucrative compared to other cities Tirunelveli,Madurai etc.. because of the fact Trichy is well connected to all the main cities, better airport facility, colleges.
It has been told that TRICHY IT park would be filled by the companies at the greater speed because of the above mentioned facts.
I read the news recently in a newspaper a month back.
* I am also from Trichy, keen to be in Trichy after 3-5 years.
Regards
Vivekanand N
July 4, 2008 at 8:53 AM
Vivekanand,
just for your information.
All the spaces have been booked by IT/BPO companies already.
July 5, 2008 at 6:54 AM
Actually Infosys was discussing with IT park people for starting their operations in Trichy. Now no official information about that.

I spoke to Mr. shahajat, Incharge trichy It park. He said as of now no big players like tcs ,hcl and infosys have finalised yet. Infosys approached for 200 acres exclusively. as elcot dont have that much space infosys dropped at present. Hcl having acquired a large space in Madurai, they have taken only 2 acres in trichy. lets us see what happens in future
August 8, 2008 at 4:12 PM
The IT minister Mr.Raja had said couple of days before an IT park will come in Padalur(Near Siruganur). If Infosys is really interested in Trichy, then they should setup their unit there.
I guess the IT park will be developed by the IT companies themselves.

Wipro future plan…
While speaking about the ongoing and future expansion plans, he said the goal is to shift more business from Tier-I to Tier-II cities especially to places like Madurai, Coimbatore and Trichy. About the expansion, Badiga said the company with an investment range of Rs 1,500 crore will be adding 6 million to 8 million square feet floor space creating 40-50 thousand seats in cities of Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Bubaneshwar and greater Noida. Wipro is determined to reach 10 million square feet floor space across the country over a period of time, he added.
The 25,000 seater office at Mahindra SEZ at Maraimalai Nagar near Chennai is expected to be completed by this December taking the headcount in Chennai region to reach 31,000 with the existing 6,000 in its STPI and SEZ zones at Sholinganallur, he said. Targetting Coimbatore in its Tier-II expansion agenda, the company would be setting up a 10,000-seat facility in a 10-acre area in a year’s time, he added.

I want to know the updation of the growth please.
September 16, 2008 at 11:05 AM
Right now IT is complete down and also major fall down on US markets.
We can approach the matter in 2 ways.
1. If they follow cost cut they will think about tier 2 cities like Trichy, Madurai, Coimbatore
2. They may put off the expansion plan to tier 2 cities due to slow down in business.
We have to wait and see the market condition
September 16, 2008 at 4:41 PM
Yes ganapathy you are right , IT sector is going to get hit bcos for obvious reasons, so if Trichy concentrates on its own strength “The Energy equipment manufacturing” instead of looking in for IT developments, that really will boost the area.

September 23, 2008 at 3:41 AM
It seems right now no IT Park will come to Trichy
1. Already all the over the world economy slowdown and US Market is down.
2. IT companies not interest in new recruitment.
September 23, 2008 at 2:08 PM
Based on the global economy, the IT parks might get a bigger stall. I hope it would eventually be started in Trichy. Trichy has great potential of human resources unlike other major cities. We have plenty of colleges, ranging from engg. to arts to NIT.
ELCOT or NASSCOM should give preference to Trichy first!
November 7, 2008 at 12:21 AM
Crazy guys..u still think that IT pak will come in tricht, then wake up ….enough of day dreaming…realise that u have been made fools and only promoters to sell land have been bagiing about IT park

November 25, 2008 at 1:17 PM
Dear Jemi,
I have seen ur site, it is totally far away.
I hope this place will take longtime for develpment. U may remember about VGP, even after 25 years their is no development. This is place is not fit for immediate development. Mostly they are talking about ring road, i don’t know when they are going to start, there are lot of problem in acquiring land for this road.
Another thing they are telling about Tiruchi IT park, really it is more than 7 kms from IT park (To be frank) location and i don’t think because of IT park this area going to develop.
It is totally waste to develop in suriyur areas.
November 25, 2008 at 4:36 PM
Hello Mr Ganapathy…..
you want land for 10rs/sqft huh nice joke…
you can but it near some villages k u can buy it 100 km away from the city it s the best option …… If u buy any land please suggest me 2..GooD LucK
November 26, 2008 at 5:18 AM
Hi moorthy,
Thanks for ur contact details, i have also went around the site, i have passed through both the idealcity and plot promoted by jemi housing.
I don’t think, the plots in suriyur will have good appreciation, but at the same time i also prefer Idealcity, which is only 200m from Tiruchi it park location and it is also in main route connecting Tiruchi it park with BHEL, NIT, Thiruverumbur. Moreover construction also takes place in this layout.

IT park site getting ready
Staff Reporter
Levelling work starts on 147 acres at Navalpattu; tenders to be invited for roads
TIRUCHI: Nearly eight months after its notification as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT) has commenced levelling work on the alienated site of 147 acres (of which 123 acres is SEZ) at Navalpattu for establishing the IT Park.
After the process of levelling and fencing is completed, the next step will be to hand over 10 acres each to Sutherland Global Services and Cognizant Technology Solutions, the first phase allottees.
Simultaneously, tenders will be invited for the laying of internal roads and creation of amenities under public-private partnership mode. During this week, the Government would decide on the allotment to be made to applicants in the second phase, official sources said.
The ELCOT has decided to construct an administrative-cum-IT incubation building at the site within six to nine months. The structure with a 50,000 feet builtup space will house the Customs unit and serve as the incubation facility for companies keen on commencing their operations before creating their own building infrastructure.
Private companies are likely to take up to two years for operating from their own facilities from the time of handing over the layout.
ELCOT sources said that the slowdown in the IT sector was not likely to have an impact on the expansion plans of the companies since tier-II cities were seen as the ideal destinations where operational costs could be reduced by 30 to 40 per cent. Tiruchi ranks top among tier-II destinations on the fronts of its advantageous location, human resource availability and physical connectivity.
The ELCOT, it is learnt, is pinning hopes on the district administration for relaying the 120-feet-road that links the IT Park with the Tiruchi-Pudukottai Highway, and is also confident that the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, which has been provided five acres to establish a sub-station, will complete its task simultaneously.

Most of the news went around tiruchi it park dropped!!!!!!!!!!
Now it’s come to reality and i wish to say once again this area will be totally changed and navalpattu (IT park area) will become more better than tiruchi city.
Let us wait and see.

Their is a layout namely ideal city, just east side cauvery nagar (ie between cauvery nagar and burma colony) Price ranges between Rs 200 – Rs 225/-. This is a closest layout to Tiruchi IT park.

TN does not need IT concerns, says Veerasami
Express News Service First Published : 10 Jan 2009 04:02:00 AM ISTLast Updated : 10 Jan 2009 08:33:35 AM ISTCHENNAI: “I’m telling you frankly, after the American incident [recession], there is no scope for IT sector in Tamil Nadu. Don’t waste your money.” That was Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasami addressing non-resident Indians and people of Indian origin from overseas at the State session of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas here on Friday.
To a query from a delegate from Chicago on investment in IT sector, Veerasami said the sector was in dull shape in the state.
“Many are not getting offers from abroad and there have been retrenchments. Many units on Rajiv Gandhi Salai have been affected. Invest in any other sector except IT.” Ironically, the session was intended to woo potential foreign investors to the State.
IT secretary PWC Davidar immediately sprang to the defence of the sector, saying the ‘pink slip culture’ was not present in the state.
“While some units that depend on projects from abroad have been affected, the picture is not dismal. We still have the best IT manpower for processing and we would like to encourage you to look at Tamil Nadu for investments,” he said.
The minister was apparently worried at the prospect of offering uninterrupted power s u p p ly to more IT companies, after c o m p l a i n t s during the power crisis that it was foreign investors and IT firms that were using a major chunk of power as the government had agreed to provide them with continous power supply.
Land and real estate offered about 30 percent profit, he said. Power was the best sector as it would yield 200 per cent profit. Other areas were leather, paper, steel and cement.

Dear Tiruchians,
It is well known that the state and central representatives from Trichy district were not interested in the development of Trichy city. They always struggle to safegaurd their MP/MLA seats.
> No industrial investments so far since 1965.
> Trains originating from Trichy has been extended to some other destinations.
> Upgradation of Trichy GH on par with AIIMS has also been shifted to MAdurai & Salem due to political pressure.
> Direct trains from Trichy was also cancelled.
> Electrification of Villupuram-Trichy is done by keeping Trichy as a base for Madurai City’s improvement. (Remeber that Chennai-Trichy electrification was started around 1980’s as MGR’s dream project to develop Trichy as the second capital of the state. But it has been completed now after 25 years).
> No integrated bus stand.
> Ring road project still in black & white.
> Low infrastructure facilities when compared to Madurai, Coimbatore.
> Corporation’s projects (Repaetedly announced every year during budget) like Theme park, widening of junction, thiruvanaikovil bridges, are still in Papers.
We can add number of points to this list. Ultimately Trichy have lost its sheen.
Friends its time for our showtime. I request yout o boycot this LokSabha Election. Plz don’t vote for anyone this election. Pass it to ur friends and relatives.

Well, having lived in Trichy for over 12 years, I can admit that the progress in the city has been low in employment. However, it has made excellent progress in education. With the IIM coming to Trichy, it will get more recognition and hopefully companies will setup shop here.

RPP Constructions has started the work in Trichy IT Park Site… for the Infrastructure facilities
September 18, 2009 at 9:22 AM
Marg Constructions Ltd will build 50,000 sqft ELCOT’s IT building.
More News:
Tiruchi IT Park works all set to begin
The ELCOT (Electronic Corporation of Tamil Nadu) reviewed the conditions for commencement of works at the IT Park in Navalpattu here earlier this week.
Marg Constructions Ltd., which has been entrusted with the task of constructing ELCOT’s 50,000 square feet IT building in a two acre plot on the 147.61 acre IT Park premises, has started its preparatory works in order to complete the project by the end of May 2010. According to official sources, works on creation of common infrastructure facilities and construction of IT space will progress simultaneously.
The ELCOT has conducted meetings with the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board. The TNEB has been provided with five acres of land to set up a 110 kv sub station and the TWAD Board is exploring the feasibility to provide 3MLD (million litres per day) water.
Official sources said the Highways Department has initiated steps to take over the 120 feet road linking the IT Park to the Tiruchi-Pudukkottai Highway for four-lane works. Construction of an 80-feet road from the IT Park to the Tiruchi-Thanjavur Highway via Sholamadevi is also on ELCOT’s agenda.
The State government had alienated the land to ELCOT, and the Centre accorded Special Economic Zone (SEZ) status for the Tiruchi IT Park and duly notified the same in the Gazette on March 12, 2008.
Subsequently, the ELCOT allotted 10 acres of land to Sutherland Global Services Pvt. Ltd. A similar extent of land has been earmarked for Cognizant Technology Solutions, and two acres of land has been made available for HCL.
While other bigger players have adopted a ‘wait and watch’ approach, smaller IT companies have patronised the IT Park well. The entire IT space has been booked, a senior official said, observing that the prospects for cutting down operational costs, proximity to the International Airport, and scope for nil attrition were vital factors favouring Tiruchi as an ideal IT destination.
These companies have pinned hopes on the Southern Railways for operation of additional day-time express trains exclusively between Tiruchi and Chennai to foster their growth.
According to an ELCOT publication, upon completion, the IT Park was expected to provide employment to 20,000 candidates directly and to 60,000 candidates indirectly.

Tiruchi IT park will be inaugurated next month
The Tiruchi IT Park, at Navalpattu in the outskirts of the city, would be inaugurated next month, said Santhosh Babu, Managing Director, Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT), here on Friday.
The Information Technology Park, covering an area of about 147 acres of land, has already been notified as a Special Economic Zone by the Union government. Orders on allotment of lands to about 10 IT companies, including Cognizant Technology Solutions, would be issued within the next few days.
Work on creating the infrastructure such as compound walls, roads, drains and cable network at the park premises had begun. Construction of about 50,000 square feet of built space to serve as an incubation centre of the ELCOT at a cost of Rs.14 crore would begin within the next few days, Mr. Babu told media persons.
Stating that the government was taking all steps to promote tier II cities as IT destinations, Mr. Babu maintained that there had been a good response from IT companies to the Tiruchi IT Park and 16 firms had applied for allotment of land.
“We held a meeting with the companies and they have promised to start construction as soon the park is inaugurated,” he said.
ELCOT had also planned to hold ‘Empower IT’ meet in Tiruchi, probably next month, to bring students and employers on a common platform so that candidates could understand the industrial requirements and equip them accordingly.

Big scope for IT in Tiruchi: Poongothai
Nine IT and ITES companies have been allotted 67 acres of land in the 147-acre Navalpattu IT Park here, one of the six IT parks promoted by the State government in its Tier-II cities through the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT).
The Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will hand over the allotment orders to the companies on October 22 when the foundation will be laid for the works on creation of Rs. 28 crore infrastructure that includes construction of 50,000 square feet built-up space, laying of roads, and provision of water supply and power.
“The IT Park in Tiruchi has received the highest patronage amongst Tier-II cities. The infrastructure works will be completed within 10 months from the time of start,” the State Minister for IT Poongothai Aladi Aruna told presspersons on Thursday. The works at the Madurai and Tirunelveli IT Parks will get over a month earlier, she said.
The companies that have been allotted land in the IT parks were also expected to carry out their construction works simultaneously. As per SEZ (Special Economic Zones) norms, land allotted to them can be taken back if they do not commence operations within two years, the Minister said, replying to a query.
Dr. Poongothai saw in the expansion of the Tiruchi Airport a high scope for bigger IT and ITES companies to launch operations in future.

Dear Trichiites,
I suppose it is useless in discussing in a virtual room.. Both the state and central representatives were pushing down the growth of Trichy.
The main objective of DMK party were,
–>kadal neerai kudineerakkum thittam.
–>Tharisu nilangalai vilai nilangalaga matrum thittam.
–>malaikottai tharaikottaiyaga matrum thittam.
Cities even Salem, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin were ahead of Trichy in infrastructure and development..
–> No trains originating from Trichy.
–> AIIMS Super Speciality hospital scheme shifted to Salem & Madurai due to political preasure
–> Trichy Airport has been de-promoted as per the instruction received from a top politician from Madurai and Madurai airport has been promoted.
–> No trains has been announced by the Railway ministry from Trichy, Instead trains originating from trichy has been extended to other Zones.
–> The state or central representatives from our district is not interested in developing the city. But we are blaming the associations and industries.
The next aim of DMK government is to make Madurai the sub-capital of tamilnadu. Bifurcate Trichy and merge it with Madurai and other surrounding districts. This is because we are not paying tax. Govt (Both Central & State govt) does not get any benefits from Trichy.
–> Central govt cancels almost all the flight services provided by Airindia & Indian airlines from Trichy. The main reason for the loss of NACIL is due to the officials political view.
Ultimately, govt is not functioning based on the democracy, but based on the political influences.
Trichy is expecting its doom’s day..
February 10, 2010 at 6:07 AM
Ya it is correct. Government is functioning based on political influences. Trichy is center of tamilnadu and it has lot of college and good environment also but they are focusing only Madurai.
They are showing interest of develop madurai because of political influences. If there is any polition give any pressure ( especially whose in DMK ) then only Trichy will improve. Otherwise no way of IT Park dream.
February 11, 2010 at 1:06 PM
Yes. I strongly agree.
If the state goverment changes, in the next State election, thing may change.
Trichy may get a chance of IT park or other improvements. But still there are some BPOs are interested in Trichy
February 11, 2010 at 1:11 PM
I suggesting some good points:
All Trichy college Students jointly can Submit a request (in writing) to Cheif Minister of Tamilnadu to create more employment in Trichy IT / non IT.
February 13, 2010 at 6:03 AM
Great don,
You are still in the dark. Politicians were not ready to help us. Their main aim is to secure their vote bank with fake promises. We have to form a group and should come out with a signature campaign. I’m ready to come out and speak. I can even meet the industry people. But without support, I cannot move even a single step.

Dear Mr Premkumar
I read with lot of interest your feelings through the comments 218,222,224 and 227 in the tiruchian wordpress.com.
I am very happy to note that there still a few youngsters like you who are keen on the progress of Tiruchi.
Nearly a decade back there was a lot of enthusiasm among a few elite / intelligent group who were also keen to develop Tiruchi as a major IT destination next to Chennai much before Coimbatore even started to think of.
A vision statement of – In 5 years 50companies investing 500 crores generating 5000 jobs – that is by 2005.
We were no where nearby. In fact the late MP Rangarajan Kumaramangalam promised and did to bring the earth station in the TREC – STEP campus. The then Director Ms Rajalakshmi helped for it and also desired to bring Tiruchi as a major IT hub. Nothing of the dreams really came to reality.
An analysis of the failure showed that Tiruchi really have no enterprising businessman. No one was really ambitious to come up with a company like INFOSYS or WIPRO. All have very limited ambitions to make small money and be satisfied. It is not mere ambition but should be coupled with aggressiveness and risk taking. We Tiruchites lack in that unlike Coimbatorians.
Tiruch is not prospering in the way some of you desire. We elect our MPs – many times outsiders who have no affinity to Tiruchi like Dalit Elumalai or L. Ganesan or otherwise businessman like Adakalaraj. The only exception was Ranagarajan Kumaramangalam – though he did not belong to Tiruchi he had many schemes and plans to develop Tiruchi.
I am not sure – probably if we have elected Ms Charubala Thondaiman there is a chance she might have become a Minister in Central Govt and might have done something good for Tiruchi since she knew the needs of Tiruchi as the Mayor. Anyway it is all past and no point in brewding over the past.
Now come to think of what we can do?
01. There is no point to make enemity with politicians. Finally they have to only decide and do the needful. Instead of antognising them, better use them to get what we want. So if you can assemble a group , politicians will definitely listen to you.
02. Prepare a lit of development works what we want.
Make it sector wise: –
a. Transport ( Railways, Roadways and Airways )
b. Agriculture
c. Municipal Amenities – Drainage, Watersupply, internal roads, Garbage Removal
d. Building Infrastructure
e. New Industries – what Industries , which Dept to do What
f. Education – New Institutions and new Courses of Studies
g. Employment Oppurtunities
These are only some illustrative examples.
A comprehensive list can be prepared by collecting suggestions from public including Senior citizens, students and house wives
This step will give some clarity.
Instead of telling vague things , we can ask specific things from Politicians or Authorities
I think you can do this using your connections and web portals.
03. After preparing the list , get comments on priorities and have strategic session with Senior people on how to go about and get things done.
Have some senior officers retired IAS officers living in Tiruch, retired Senior Officers of BHEL/ Goldenrock workshop/ Railways/ REC Professors/ BIM Professors as Advisers.
I would like to recommend Dr V Gopalakrishnan retd Executive Director now working as Professor of Computer Science in REC / NIT Tiruchi. He is a visionary and can guide you a lot.
04.Formulate strategies – Writing to Newspapers / getting the reporters to the spots / have press meets to high light the problems – many more can emerge
For instance the Dy CM Mr M K Stalin has a website and gets suggestions from citizens. Hardly anyone from Tiruchi writes whereas you can find people from Coimbatore and Madurai appeal to him for general grievances.
05. Use the RTI act to get specific info from Govt on the projects.
I just shared my thoughts.
My best wishes to all your efforts.
S. Narayanan

You have to strive hard to keep your area sanitized, fresh and clean. Using trash disposal could help you break down various wastes that are consumable products. Moreover, the cleanliness in the kitchen must be the top priority in the house. And also, there are some do it disposal tips that you may follow, these may help you too in keeping a refreshing place, keeping it from smelly odors and maintaining it to be a clean environment. There is nothing more comfortable than living in a secured and clean house.

trichy has been considered below par by all the political parties, we dont have a proper representative or a power house to get what required for us..last time we chose L Ganesan he did merely nothing for us and this P Kumar also doing the same.. we need sound reps in the parliament/Assembly so that they can echo our voice over there…

ELCOT to rent out space by October
The Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT) has almost completed the structural works in its building in Navalpattu IT Park where 50,000 sq feet IT space is to be provided to clients.
About 20,000 sq feet space has already been booked for four companies: Integra Software Services, OKS Pre-press services, Scientific Publishing Services and Sadhana Software, official sources told The Hindu.
Though ELCOT originally intended to provide the IT space with ‘plug and play’ facility in the building, ‘warm shell’ space was subsequently considered ideal due to varying requirements of clients. Electricity, air-conditioning and automation facilities will be created and with these the companies would adapt the working environment to their design.
The remaining work constituting 40 per cent of the building project constitutes construction of side wall, plastering, fixing of electrical fittings, erection of lift and false ceiling works.
ELCOT is certain about finishing the plastering work by the middle of next month.
“By October end, we would be renting out the space to clients for carrying out interior works. Companies housed in the built-up space are likely to commence operations from January or February next year,” a senior official said.
The ELCOT has been in the recent weeks following up the proposal it had submitted earlier to the Government for strengthening of the existing 100 feet road to a distance of about six kilometres that links the IT Park with the Tiruchi-Pudukottai Highway. The work is expected to be carried out by the State Highways department.
The proposed 80-feet road linking the IT Park with the Tiruchi-Thanjavur Highway via Cholamadevi will be taken up for implementation after a couple of years, it is learnt.
Golf course
Work on creation of golf course and residential apartments in the IT Park area as vital components of the full-fledged eco-system will commence once the companies occupy the entire 50,000 sq feet of IT space and start operations, sources said, adding that the ELCOT would opt for public-private partnership model on a BOT (Build, Operate, Transfer) basis to create the residential infrastructure.

Tiruchi IT Park commissioned
The value of software exports from the Tiruchi region will increase several-fold from the existing Rs. 26.21 crore per year with the inauguration of the IT Park of ELCOT at Navalpattu, Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said on Thursday.
Four companies were allotted 10,000 out of the 50,000 square feet IT-cum-administrative building that Mr.Stalin declared open in the presence of State Ministers K.N. Nehru, Poongothai Aladi Aruna, S. Selvaraj, and Tiruverumbur MLA K.N.Sekaran.
Development works valued at Rs. 15 crore out of the Rs. 60 crore planned for investment had been completed by ELCOT in the IT Park, with the status of Special Economic Zone, spread over 147.61 acres. Nine companies had been sanctioned 37 acres for developing their facilities.
In the next five years, the IT Park would attract investments worth Rs. 800 crore creating 20,000 direct employment and 40,000 indirect employment opportunities, Mr. Stalin said.

To me Trichy is now almost close to a planned city. Now what the need of the time is the proper organising of the industrial establishmets. With the arrival of IT park in naval pattu IT industries would get a boost, already heavy industries are occuping the Trichy-Tanjore road. Atleast hereafter officals, politicians and we the people of trichy should often indulge in public hearing meetings, form a forum like things for the full fledged industrial development of industries in trichy and invite new companies. Also important is classifying these companies and directing them to the proper areas. If these things go as planned then the other infrastructural establishments would develop automatically

Syntel explores options for centre at Navalpattu IT Park
Bharat Desai, Founder Chairman of Syntel, a global provider of Information Technology and Knowledge Process Outsourcing solutions with global development centres in India and the United States, explored the scope for starting a centre at ELCOT’s IT Park in Navalpattu here, on Friday.
Accompanied by N.NR. Sharavanan, General Manager and Head – Administration, SYNTEL, Chennai, and other senior executives, Mr.Desai interacted with officials of ELCOT and the district administration; the Vice-Chancellors of Bharathidasan University and Anna University of Technology – Tiruchi; and industry representatives to determine feasibility to start the proposed centre in the 25 acres of the SEZ area that the ELCOT is keen to allot.
The company, according to ELCOT officials, has already taken stock of the facilities at Vishakapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and will take a final decision on which tier-II city to choose after evaluating the advantages in the IT Parks in Madurai and Tirunelveli. Proximity to international airport and the two universities; presence of the National Institute of Technology and the Indian Institute of Management; a fair degree of cosmopolitan outlook; and the scope for sourcing quality manpower from the region could weigh in favour of the Navalpattu IT Park, the host of dignitaries with whom Mr. Desai interacted believe.
After his nearly hour-long discussion with the District Collector, Mahesan Kasirajan, ELCOT MD Santhosh Babu, the Vice-Chancellor of Bharathidasan University K.Meena, the Vice-Chancellor of Anna University of Technology – Tiruchi P.Devadas Manoharan, Regional Director of NASSCOM K.Purushothaman, and industrialist K.N.Ramajayam, Mr.Desai went around the IT Park building.
The two Vice-Chancellors apprised Mr. Desai of the quantum of student output, the quality of faculty, research activities and other academic initiatives while the District Collector, the District Revenue Officer C.A. Raman, and other top officials gave a briefing on the power position, water availability, cost of living, housing facilities, the district’s demography, and the geographic advantage that Tiruchi offers.
Mr.Santosh Babu said Tamil Nadu was poised to become a power surplus State by this year-end, and that a separate sub-station would come up on ten acres within the Navalpattu IT Park campus.

US-based BPO scouts for space
Close on the heels of Syntel Chairman Bharat Desai’s visit last week, senior executives of the New York Stock Exchange-listed business process outsourcing player, WNS Global Services, were at the Tiruchi IT Park, evaluating scope for starting a development centre.
Sanjay Puria, Senior Vice-President – Finance, and Sulakshana Patankar, Business Unit Leader, who were taken around the IT Park and the city were impressed by the promising work environment Tiruchi could offer as a tier-II city in terms of quality human resource; road, rail and air connectivity; and the ambience that BPO professionals would look for, ELCOT officials said. The multinational company with headquarters in USA and UK has a strong presence in Gurgaon, Pune and Mumbai,
The WNS executives had earlier visited the IT Parks in Tirunelveli and Madurai as well, and would make their preference known in due course, an official said, adding that at the Navalpattu IT Park building, ELCOT was in a position to rent out to the company the entire 25,000 square feet space in the second floor. Besides, the WNS was also looking for land to an extent of ten acres to start their own facility in the 147-acre SEZ (Special Economic Zone) area. The company, ELCOT officials said, was keen on interacting with students in the region to quell misconceptions about BPO jobs.
As for ELCOT, re-laying of the about six-kilometre 120 feet link road connecting the IT Park with the Tiruchi-Pudukkottai National Highway is a key factor for showcasing the intrinsic value of the SEZ location. ELCOT officials are able to make out the discomfiture of prospective investors when they are taken to the IT Park through a circuitous route, which, in fact, creates an impression that the city is located farther from the park.
The Government departments are seized of the matter, it is learnt. A government order transferring the road from the purview of the rural development department to the highways department is what is needed now for making the IT Park an attractive investment destination, official sources said, indicating that Rs.10 crore would be spent on re-laying the link road.
Meanwhile, Assist International, i-link software private limited, and Seventh Sense Technologies to whom 10,000 square feet built up space in the ELCOT’s 50,000 square feet building has been rented out have commenced interior works.
So far, in-principle allotment orders for land in the SEZ area have been given to ten companies. Tiruchi-based e-Quadriga, which has applied for three acres of land, will be the eleventh company. After allotting land to these companies, sparing ten acres for a power sub-station, earmarking seven acres for internal roads, and sparing 14 acres for Open Space Reservation, the ELCOT will be left with about sixty acres to make future allotments.

Assist IT Solutions will be the first company to launch operations at the Tiruchi IT Park in Navalpattu from next month.
The company has occupied 1,800 square feet space in ELCOT’s main building and also has been sanctioned two acres of land for setting up its own facility, official sources said, adding that to begin with, the company will start off with a workforce of 50 IT professionals.
Other companies including iLink, Seventh Sense, and WNS are expected to start operations by July, after adapting the interiors to their requirements. WNS, one of the global business outsourcing companies, will also be establishing its own facility on a five acre area, official sources said.
Syntel, which explored scope for starting its operations, may not have a centre in Tiruchi, official sources added. In the next couple of days, the IT Park will be provided with 440 KV HT supply. So far, the supply was provided on a temporary basis for construction purpose.
Meanwhile, there has been no progress as yet on the hand over of the road linking the IT Park with Tiruchi-Pudukottai National Highway to the State Highways department. Relaying of the 100 feet road running to a length of five to six kilometres is vital for attracting more number of bigger IT and ITES companies. Sources indicated that the process could take time as the file, though at the final stage, will have to be cleared by the next government.

Today, I went to the beach front with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old
daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.”
She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had
to tell someone!
