BSNL has announced a plan to streamline the land-line service to customers. According to this plan, customers under the general plan in Tiruchi and Karur Short Distance Charging Areas (SDCA) have been converted into `One India’ plan. So all the customers will get STD facility without paying any extra deposit.

( I could never understand why customers should pay deposit to use their service.. I hope the days of companies competing for the customers in land-line is not very far)

Those customers who do not want STD ( which is free without deposit) can remove it from their account by giving a letter to BSNL. ( Sorry don’t have the mailing address)
