Looks like Air Deccan is adding more flights to connect Bangalore and Trichy. The schedule from Trichy to Bangalore / Chennai is as follows.
| DN-174 | Bangalore | ATR | 7:50 | 9:00 | Daily | 30th Mar 2008 |
| DN-176 | Bangalore | ATR | 22:10 | 23:25 | Daily | 4th May 2008 |
| DN-154 | Chennai | ATR | 11:35 | 12:45 | Daily | 30th Mar 2008 |
| DN-164 | Chennai | ATR | 22:05 | 23:15 | Daily | 4th May 2008 |
The schedules (in Red) is not approved yet. But this new schedule will be great for those who fly into Bangalore from outside the country and don’t have to wait well into the day to get to Trichy.

Today(01/04/08) I met two Germans. They have come from Blr by 05.55 AM Deccan flight. It was a 42 seat ATR and only 9/10 people were there. It reached Try in 50 mts against the sheduled running time of 1 hr 10 mts. But they were having a confirmed deccan tkt to Chennai for today 7.30 PM which I also saw.Since I also wanted to go Chennai,I checked up with airdeccan and also airport. They informed there is no flight. But these people were allowed to book the tkt thru’ net.I don’t know what will happen to them.

I feel pity for the German tourist. These kind of small things create a bad impression about India.
So looks like Deccan is using ATR 42 aircraft in the Bangalore sector. Just 9 persons in the aircraft is really a matter of concern. Hope this figure gets better once people get to know about this service.

Any latest news about patronage for the Trichy-Bangalore new service introduced by the Deccan.
April 2, 2008 at 7:50 AM
I again met these Germans at 4.00 PM and cautioned about the cancellation of this flight. Immly they verified and got the same infn. They thanked me and left by hiring a taxi.Any idea when Deccan will introduce this flight?

Air Deccan announced late evening service to chennai & blr as 3 days /week service from 7th april.
April 6, 2008 at 9:00 AM
Why the change of mind ?. Is it due to lack of patronage on the morning flights to Chennai and Bangalore ?.
April 6, 2008 at 5:47 PM
today the incoming passenger count from BLR morning flight is around 50 and the outgoing is around 40 which is really a good figure for an 72 seater aircraft for a sector started just a week before. hope the patronage continues for the evening flights too but it will be an daily and not thrice weekly as per their ticketing counter in airport.
Also BHEL announces its further expansion at an investment of 3000crores and 70% increase in profit for the year which is around 50% of the total profit of BHEL all over india and have aimed in increasing its productivity of trichy plant to one third in the coming year. This news is really good for the city growth and there is a chance of oppurtunity for around 10,000 people. For further details read The business line dated 5-04-08.But still this wont be enough to bring international status and more investments has to be brought to our city in different fields.Lets hope the best for the growth of our city.

In newspapers it was mentioned as 3 days /week. If you try to book tkts thru’ their web you can find this late evening flight to chennai & blr on mon/wed/fri only. But if their bkg counter says as daily service, anybody who travelled on other days only can confirm.
April 7, 2008 at 6:11 AM
Even online booking on Deccan’s website is confusing.Though it shows 3 times a week, but starting April 16th it shows as daily evening flihgts to chennai and bangalore.

Airdeccan is a 48 seater or 72 seater. If 48 seater 40 persons is excellent

My visit to south – to trichy , cochin and Madurai was very interesting and for those interested to know how i felt here are few points.
Cochin: City remains the same way with more builders coming up with constructions.
Best part is the railway station upgrades with new granite tiles which look fabulous.
Madurai: Lot of developments around the temple , laying of tiles but the city remains congested as before. Slow development works like bridge construction and poor parking are common sights.
People here are less responsible and many people from nearby villages and huge population on roads make it very difficult to control.
Trichy : More or Less the same but developments include lot of four laning but at slow pace , new bridges etc.
Best part is the railway station which has a fresh look and works still going on. The bad thing is that they have put kota stones which are broken in many places . Granite like in cochin or Chennai would have been much better.
Bus stand is bigger and better but still the area is congested .
The worst part in trichy are the internal roads which are pathetic compared to Madurai or Cochin.
Though much wider than in Madurai and Cochin there are in very poor state.
The best part of trichy …. Hats off to Trichy Traffic police who have regulated the traffic to international stds. No one now crosses the white line and displine was excellent. When enquired , i heard that every junction is fitted with cameras and the police have digital cameras and challans with evidence are sent to violators address.
Police looked very fit and in every junction in proper uniforms giving them the royal look .
Did not visit airport road in both madurai and Trichy

A interesting observation – More positives than negatives – i think NOT! Just about two weeks ago as i was driving by the central bus station exit-noticed two western tourists stuck in the middle of the road with vehicles in both directions not stopping to let them pass. To my horror, i saw two buses in front of me sandwiching them – they survived by mere millimetres to say it mildly!
I stopped to let them pass – My wife who is finnish visiting India for the first time was so shocked to see the lack of tolerance and civil sense towards safety that she is afraid to go back there again!I’m pretty sure many tourists feel the same way…
International standards require lane discipline – unfortunately, Indian roads don’t have any lanes or dirivng directions in the first place;no one drives out there – just squeezing with only motive to move ahead!!
Camera’s need to be fitted in locations where cop patroling isn’t available but in trichy it is right by the cops resting lounge – I feel they are very incompetent, utterly rude and careless.
Comparing it to international standards is a joke in my opinion dude!

I do agree with Sri Ashok. The traffic awareness amongst the dirvers, passengers and the traffic Constable is terrifrically lacking. I have experienced in Chennai, where I could not cross in the zebra crossing and this usage nobody knows including the Cops. If you tell them they immediatly say ” Unu velaiparthu poo / upna kam aap karthegia”. Our people/ officials will never learn themselves and they are not ready to learn. Not only tourist, the citizen also are the sufferers.

Arvind’s observation about the Traffic police is what everybody would like to have. But in reality it is not so. Try police is one of the worst group, may be some exceptions there. i think police from Kerala are much better which I have seen during my many visits to Sabarimalai.
April 8, 2008 at 10:57 AM
Interesting ! May be what i saw was Ashok stopping the car for the tourists and what others have seen is what been happening just before that….
What i meant by International stds. is that cameras are being used to identify culprits and whatever i saw was someting very postive.
May be reality is far from what i have seen.
April 8, 2008 at 12:16 PM
Yes! cameras are used to identify culprits. And these photos are used by the police to demand more money than the normal mamool.
