BHEL bags order for Vallur power plant

Power equipment major Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has clinched an order worth Rs 1,990 crore for the supply and installation of the steam generators and turbine packages at the upcoming 1,000 MW thermal power project at Vallur in Tamil Nadu.
The public sector unit won the contract outbidding leading European equipment suppliers, according to BHEL sources here.
The orders for the power project had been placed by Tamil Nadu Energy Corporation Limited, which is a joint venture company of National Thermal Power Corporation and Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, they said.
BHEL has already gained confidence in establishing 500 MW capacity power plants in the country with 58 orders clinched, out of which 31 plants have already been commissioned.
It has also acquired the capability to design, manufacture, install and commission power plants up to the capacity of 1,000 MW, the sources added. (Agencies)
