Trichy is in the bank of River cauveri in Tamilnadu. Being home of some great educational institutions and commercial centers, Trichy is a beehive of activity all around the year. For most of the small towns around Trichy, Trichy is the “Happening place“.

hi fwd,
I agree with what you say.
Trichy is a place where there is a plenty of space for development .
However I see the same roads, shops etc which I saw some 10 years back even now
without any improvement.
There is no significant development in transport and infrastructure.
It is we the people of trichy who should try to improve our town.
Can anybody come forward with any ideas?
April 13, 2007 at 6:20 AM
Hi Anantha Lakshmi,
I agree with your statement that some shops are not yet improved. But you know Trichy is the most important and vibrant city in tamilnadu.. The corporation should take further steps to improve road infrastructures and other amenities.. (ring_me_to_9994265574@yahoo.com)

Hi all
Eventhough the city is having all the facilities trichy still is in the 4th place in tamilnadu. but the industrial development is very poor we cant believe only on the IT parks which is about to come and no effort is taken to attract invesments in this city

Hi Guys, thanks for all of your concern, and at this point in time, would only advise to be patient. TRICHY is definitely poised to become a major Industrial cum Tourism city, next to Chennai in Tamil Nadu. There is no two way about it.
Indeed, various organisations, including political parties, industrialist, experts, professionals, Consultants, even astrology, agree with the fact that Trichy is the centre of gravitational pull, being the nucleus of Tamil Nadu economy, stability, peace and prosperity of the state.
Though, current Trichy city’s momentum of reaching it’s full potential is rather slow for now, definitely in the course of time, Trichy will develop together with the rest of Tamil Nadu, in attaining a high living standard, with all basic ammenities, as well as, greater job prospects, putting Tamil Nadu to be Numero Uno state of India, in the very near foreseeable future. Trichy should be developed on par with the second city of other states.(eg: Pune, Mysore etc) The following are the prediction to develope this city into beautiful / greenish loving environment.
1) Recreation parks can be developed on the banks of Cauvery. A new suspension bridge along with the proposed widened high way bridge shall be thought of it and can be used for this parks stretching from Trichy Chindamani to srirangam manbhaza salai. In this recreation parks shall be proposed with the potted trees, flower bearing plants, benches, ornamental lights, public conveyance, jogging tracks etc.
Well laid roads in all housing and municipal areas which prevents flooding.
2) A auditorium which can accommodate over 3000 person, with good sound , lighting system to conduct cultural programmes.
3) Two or three good traveller agency with 10 A/C buses, travel guides shall be mooted to bring all the tourists to the places of interest in and around trichy.
4) Three to Five star hotels in important locations with good hospitality.
5) An IT Corridor stretching from trichy to perambalur with many first class companies, ofcourse sparing the fertile land.
6) Planting number of trees sappling along the newly laid roads.
7) Mosquito free environment with closed gutters,Sweage treatment plants shall be planned.
9)beautification of Main Gaurd gate ( Now soaked with TRICHIAN URINE)
10) Widening of Singarathope, modern public coveyance, clearing of all “Kuppais”, regulating the mushrooming of shops.
11) Reducing the inconvenience of the Public whi are visiting the Rock Fort,Multiple storey car carparking, Good approach roads.
HOOOOOO…… I have a lot of dreams like this. Hope every Trichian will have this kind or even more.
All these can be done with the public participation, inviting big bucks to do it. Now this is the time to invite Big Groups Direct participation.
See when all these dreams will come true.

Though, we people in Trichy have a better understandings on the potential aspects of Trichy, but wonder why the current representatives are not having the same thought and feelings like us?
Besides, since, Trichy is geographically located at the heart of Tamil Nadu state, believe strongly, that both local and foreign investors, would dearly love to put their investments in such a strategic location, together with an highly abundant educated workforce, which in return, would enhance this part of the economy, through direct&indirect employments, various basic local business activities, increased purchase power, thus, improved living standard etc.
Nevertheless, though, some current infrastructure support are ongoing, feel the support and enthusiasm by the Trichy representatives are still lacking, when compared to other cities, particularly, Salem.
Therefore, wish and hope, Trichy will have more and more Rengarajan Kumaramangalam, or late Chief Mininster MGR, to bring up the ambience and identity of Trichy into the International World map, as well as, even getting to the extend of making Trichy as the capital of Tamil Nadu state, whilst, Chennai being the Business/Financial Centre.
MAY GOD BLESS TRICHY. MAY DREAMS COME TRUE TRICHY.

Hai
Today i saw the New jointed bus in trichy
its s really amazing ……..
January 5, 2008 at 10:16 PM
I think the future development of Trichy on infrastructure wise and Urban development wise can be achieved only if it gets added into JNNURM scheme. Its very sad that only Chennai, Madurai and Coimbatore got included in the scheme. Madurai and Coimbatore will be getting projects to the tune of 3,500-4,000 crore Rs. each in the 7 years period, already many projects have started there.
I think we missed a very big opportunity as the scheme has already completed 2 years and recently there was a news that no more cities will be added to this scheme
.
January 7, 2008 at 8:15 AM
Yes we had really missed a big oppurtunity by not including trichy to JNNURM. Smaller cities with population less than 10 lakhs like mysore were added to this project. Our elected representatives were not planning properly. We people are interested in seeing the developments of trichy and not the elected representatives.
In industrial front, nothing specific has come to trichy. IT parks are devloped in all tier 2 cities, trichy it is yet to start. No new industries, only existing private industries are expanding due to their business demand. Take chennai, government is trying hard to bring different industries to chennai even though it is already congested. Trichy hospital was to be devloped as par as AIMS, but due to political pressure it is moved to Salem.
If we dont get good political support then other smaller cities will overtake trichy.
January 7, 2008 at 11:14 AM
There are three categories of cities under JNNURM namely A,B and C. A consists of cities with population of 4 million and more. B consists of cities with population of 1 million and more. C consists of cities which have less than 1 million population but fall under heritage cities. Thats how Mysore, Trivandrum and other cities got into the scheme.
January 7, 2008 at 12:00 PM
Then trichy should be included in JNNRUM category C type – 2 years back. Now it is late.
January 7, 2008 at 1:09 PM
Though it is 2 years, there are few cities including pondicherry that are yet to sign the agreement and most of the JNNRUM projects are on papers.Trichy corporation has been and still trying to add Trichy to the project though there is a freeze on adding more cities to the project.
Most recently, the corporation approved adding 14 villages to the city limit which would increase the city population to more than 1 million. Also its arquing that Srirangam and Rockfort are heritage places where thousands of people visit everyday.
Lets hope the corporation succeeds in its effort.
January 7, 2008 at 1:54 PM
Adding villages to corporation limits is not a over night process. There are lots of procedures to be followed like getting the proposal approved by the village and town panchayats. This is not an easy task as those leaders oppose the move since they may loose the post and often site increase in taxes as the reason.
January 13, 2008 at 11:05 PM
What i expected is happening.
Federation opposes move to bring 14 panchayats under Tiruchi Corporation
TIRUCHI: The Federation of Service Organisations, an umbrella body of consumer and residents welfare associations, has urged the State government to reject the proposal on merging 14 village panchayats around the city with the Tiruchi Corporation.
In a memorandum, the federation sought to draw the notice of Local Administration Minister M.K. Stalin to poor amenities in the extension areas of the city.
“It is regrettable that the Corporation Council has approved the proposal when the civic body has not been able to fulfil the requirements of the panchayats that were brought together in the early 1990s to form the Corporation,” federation convener M. Sekaran said.
Lack of drinking water
Several parts of the city did not have proper drinking water supply. In a few places, water was being supplied only once in two days. Many residential still lack proper drainages, roads, street lights and public toilets.
The merger of the village panchayats with the Corporation would only impose an additional tax burden on residents of the villages. The Corporation should think of extending its jurisdiction only after fulfilling the requirements of areas under its limits now, he said.
In a separate statement, the Tamil Nadu Consumer Federation, also condemned the move. Village panchayats were getting liberal funds from the Centre and they should be allowed to continue. The merger would not serve any purpose, it said.

Is Trichy fit for only rearing goats, cows&buffaloes only!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When will this people start to realise and be civilise???????????????????????????
January 15, 2008 at 1:37 AM
Trichy people are good and civilized. Ask the elected super heros of Political parties. they are doing none other than looking after their houses, relatives and party friends and to cash the vote bank. Mking arches to the leaders for their birth day parties, death day, elected days, and other nonsenses. If the leaders are well civilized, people also will be civilized. Stop all these ” free Holds” & make them to understand the value of life, value of work and the value of effort. if you give everything free, for the vote sake, the real effort is wasted, and again it will benefit only the heros of the political goondas and not the common man. The comman man have to pay more taxes and invite frustrations. Civilization is not by pigs, buffallos and dogs roaming around the streets, but it is by the well laid roads, water supply, mosquitos free, environment, educated, good planned approach of the so called super heros of politics & minicipal authorities.
January 15, 2008 at 2:48 PM
I dont see any major problem in adding the 14 villages to Trichy corporation. The corporation has acted based on the recommendation from the village and town panchayat representatives.
October 30, 2008 at 8:38 AM
Everybody start some business in Trichy, you see the place gets developed on its own.
March 7, 2009 at 2:56 PM
Hi guys i read all your statements. Analakshmi said there is no improvement in transport and infrastructure. I agree that wen compare to madurai and coimbatore, trichy has to develop a lot. Now trichy is the 4rd largest city in TN.
It has to be no. 2 ie., after chennai, trichy must be the big city for that, there has to be lots and lots of improvement is required. The basic improvement is regulating the traffic. The roads should be changed as oneway. Nothing but should go in one road and should come in another road.
I will tell where it should happen.
In Old madurai road, we have parallel roads one is old madurai road and the paralled road is West boleward road. Now both the roads are in two way rules. That has to be changed as a one way. Should to thru old madurai road towards chatiram and should come thru west boleward road towards junction
